Rooflight Felt Repairs & Dry Verge Installation in Clonsilla

A broken tile, damaged felt beside the rooflight and crumbling mortar needed attention on this extension roof. We repaired the affected tile and underlay, levelled and repaired the flashing, renewed the ridge pointing and fitted dry verge units.

What needed attention

The extension roof had a broken tile, damaged felt beneath the tiles and flashing that needed levelling and repair. Crumbling mortar also needed attention. Opening the roof beside the rooflight exposed the damaged underlay, showing why the repair needed to reach beneath the tile covering.

How we approached it

We lifted the tiles in the affected section, renewed the damaged felt and repaired the broken tile before reinstating the covering. We levelled and repaired the flashing around the affected junction. We removed loose and degraded pointing from the ridge caps, then repointed the joints with fresh roofing mortar. We cleared and inspected the valley and flashing, sealed vulnerable joints and seams with roofing sealant, and applied Mariseal Detail liquid waterproofing to the prepared roof junctions and leak-prone areas. Along the roof edges, we fitted mechanically fixed dry verge units to protect the exposed tile ends. We finished by clearing job-related waste from the gutters and removing the work debris.

The finished work

The repair addressed both the damaged materials beneath the tiles and the exposed roof details. The affected underlay was renewed, the tile covering reinstated and the flashing repaired. Renewed ridge pointing, treated roof junctions and dry verge units completed the work while retaining the existing roof covering.
