What needed attention

Moss had built up around the roof caps and adjoining tiles at this home in Clonsilla, Dublin 15. The existing pointing needed attention at the cap joints and edges. These caps cover the junctions where the roof slopes meet.

How we approached it

We removed moss and cleaned around the caps to prepare the areas for repointing. We then renewed the exposed pointing in a reddish colour chosen to match the existing caps. The work focused on the cap joints and edges while retaining the existing roof covering.

The finished work

The repaired sections have fresh pointing around the cap joints and edges, with a colour that blends with the existing roof caps. The photo sequence shows the change from moss-covered joints to the renewed finish.
